In a world that often glorifies the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced lifestyle, the concept of high-maintenance self-care might seem counterintuitive. However, there's a method to this madness – a way to invest time and effort in yourself strategically, so you can enjoy a shortened daily routine. Let's explore the art of doing high-maintenance self-care things to achieve a low-maintenance existence.
@theelizarose High maintenance things I do to be “low maintenance” … even though I will never identify with being low maintenance lol. This includes brow tinting, lash tinting, and lip tinting / lip blushing at home minus the pain ☺️ #makeuphacks ♬ original sound - Eliza Rose Cosmetics
The four things I do to make my daily routine go 20 minutes faster every day are:
1. Brow Tint
2. Lash Tint
3. Lip Tint
4. Nail Polish
Depending on how long the tinting lasts, I can typically go 1-3 weeks between re-tinting. Each of these steps helps me wake up feeling beautiful and shortens the amount of time it takes me to do makeup every day.
Here's what I use:
Funny enough, I actually use Just For Men's mustache and beard dye to dye my eyebrows. Just be very, very careful to not put this near, or in your eyes. I leave it on for 5 minutes, per the instructions, and carefully wash it off afterwards. Vaseline can be used around the eyebrows prior to and during dyeing in order to prevent staining outside of your eyebrows. This gives your brows such a beautiful look, and you wake up not even needing to put any makeup on your brows!
My esthetician friends are going to hate me, but I love to tint my lashes at home. Sorry! This is the exact kit I use. When doing my lashes, I'm very careful to not get the dye close to my eyes. I actually only tint the ends of my eyelashes. This makes it look like you're wearing the lightest coat of mascara right when you wake up. So gorgeous!
3. Lip Tint: Zenia 6 Pack 100% Natural Ready to Use Henna Paste Hair Color Hair Dye Cones Reddish Brown Color
For the DIY Lip Blushing look (minus the needles) I love to use henna. Not only is it natural, but it leaves the most gorgeous, long-lasting stain. To make it even better, it's significantly more affordable, and lasts longer than most lip stains on the market! Instead of staining my lips every day like I used to, I can now put henna on my lips every 3-7 days for the most gorgeous, pillowy lip looks. The natural reddish brown tone is suitable for most skin colors. Leave it on for a few minutes for a subtle stain that lasts all day, or for an hour for a stain to give you the perfect pout for days to come.
4. Nail Polish: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish, Shade Rhapsody Red 449 and essie Nail Care, 8-Free Vegan, Speed Setter Top Coat, quick-dry nail polish, 0.46 fl oz
This combo for nails is my go-to. I love a classic red polish that looks beautiful and in season any time of year. The Essie Speed Setter top coat is the top coat of my dreams. Not only does it dry really fast, but it makes my manicures last 3-5 days longer, which is a huge deal when you're a busy mom like me! I tend to maintain my nails most frequently, because I adore the look of freshly done nails. That being said, I polish my nails every 4-10 days with this combo, just so that they always look gorgeous!
That's all for my high maintenance tips and tricks that I use for a "low maintenance" daily routine! Although, I've got to say, I don't think I'll ever identify with being low maintenance. Where's the fun in that!
Have fun experimenting with your look, and don't ever be afraid to take time to put into making yourself feel beautiful and confident!
